Many people want the benefits of following Jesus without the sacrifice that comes with it. In Luke 9:51-62, Jesus challenges that mindset and calls His followers to a deeper commitment. As He resolutely journeys toward the cross, He reminds us that discipleship requires surrender, obedience, and a willingness to put Him above comfort, convenience, and personal plans.
• Jesus set His face toward Jerusalem, showing unwavering commitment to God's mission despite the suffering that awaited Him.
• Following Jesus often means embracing discomfort, sacrifice, and trusting Him above earthly security and comfort.
• True discipleship requires immediate obedience, wholehearted commitment, and refusing to let anything compete with Christ for first place.
